The Rayglass 3500 is our most luxurious vessel – a beach house on the sea that you can easily enjoy long trips or even weeks on at a time. Plenty of our customers choose this boat as an adventurous alternative to a bach, using it to explore New Zealand’s pristine oceans and beaches in complete comfort instead of tying themselves to one location. Using well-proven and well-tested technology, the Rayglass 3500 is instantly recognized as a classic Rayglass with some additional clever styling, which is modern and edgy without being over the top.

With that in mind, let’s look at what makes the Rayglass 3500 such a great boat for those looking to spend more time out on the water in style.

A beach house on the sea

The Rayglass 3500 has been designed to offer all the comforts and luxuries of a high-end beach house or motorhome, with a spacious interior, full galley, plenty of space to entertain and two warm, full head height, spacious cabins with beds where you can comfortably sleep up to 4 people, plus an extra 2 on the convertible bed in the saloon.

It’s set up to make spending extended trips away without sacrificing the luxuries you enjoy at home. Little details make all the difference. For example, there’s a 24-volt inverter onboard so that you can plug in all the appliances you use at home: from hair dryers to espresso machines and so on.

The upholstery features neutral colours so that you can customise your vessel in your own style. The Rayglass 3500 also boasts full head height shower onboard, another small comfort which makes all the difference.

Space for entertaining and relaxing

A real estate agent would call the 3500 an “entertainer’s dream”. It’s got generous deck space, complete with optional convertible seat or rear cockpit station with a sink and extra storage. There’s an expansive swim platform at the transom that’s great for lounging, filleting fish or barbecuing. An overhanging hardtop in the cockpit means that that you can entertain on the boat and enjoy a feeling of space out of the sun or if you end up in a bit of rain!

The deck flows through to an expansive galley which is tucked out of the way and features a workbench, sink, large fridge/freezer, four hob cooktop and oven. Inside the cockpit, the floor is covered in soft carpet and generous seating, including a comfortable wrap around bench and dining table.

Despite all these features, the best thing about the boat is the feeling of space you’ll have on board. The indoor areas flow seamlessly into the outdoor, while visibility through a smartly designed windscreen means you can always enjoy 360 degree views while underway or whatever beautiful location you choose to stop at. All this space makes the 3500 great for drinks with friends, romantic nights on the deck with someone special or long days spent catching and frying up fresh fish.

Impressive range and capability

Intelligent design, luxury and thoughtful details makes you want to spend a week or longer on the Rayglass 3500 and the boat’s impressive capability and huge range makes it possible. The fuel tank holds approximately 750 litres, while the freshwater tank holds 350 litres allowing you to explore far flung coastlines and deserted islands throughout New Zealand.

All equipment is powered by 220-amp hour house batteries with high output engine alternators – not a generator – which means less noise, less maintenance and more power. Two large solar panels on the roof boost the battery’s life so that you don’t run out of juice when your not plugged into the shore power, even on longer trips.

Tucked beneath the deck at the stern, there are twin V6 diesel engines that boast impressive fuel economy and performance. They’ll push the boat to a top speed of 35 knots, with a comfortable cruising speed of 20-25 knots. At that speed, each engine will use just 30 litres of fuel per hour. Despite the boat’s size, the twin engines and bow thruster make it easy to manoeuvre in tight spots like a marina or a narrow channel. Furthermore, there are fuel and water tank openings on both port and starboard sides meaning you won’t have to pull off any tricky manoeuvres to fill up the tanks.
